Devin Booker is releasing a player exclusive (PE) version of his Nike Book 1 with the upcoming Nike Book 1 ‘Forrest Gump’ release. Inspired by its namesake, the “Forrest Gump” Book 1 emulates the iconic Nike Cortez “Forrest Gump” colorway, which was famously worn by Tom Hanks in the film. The Nike Cortez debuted in 1972 and gained widespread fame thanks to its sleek white leather design, vibrant red Swoosh, and blue accents.
The legendary status of the Cortez skyrocketed after Hanks portrayed Forrest Gump in 1994. The shoe became a cultural icon, referenced in various forms of media, including pop culture campaigns like Bella Hadid’s 2017 Nike advertisement that recreated moments from the film.
The Nike Book 1 ‘Forrest Gump’ adapts the familiar colors into a performance basketball shoe, featuring a canvas twill base with leather overlays in white, complemented by a bold red Swoosh and blue midsole stripe. This release pays homage to the Cortez while positioning itself for basketball performance. The sneaker will be available on January 22, 2025, retailing for $140.
