The beloved New Balance 998 has returned to the prestigious MADE in USA collection, reclaiming its spot in the sneaker world. This iconic silhouette has won over the hearts of sneakerheads from every generation, and its 30th anniversary celebration is making waves. But what’s the latest addition to the lineup? Drumroll, please…a classic navy option!

Now, the New Balance lineup has tinkered with the muted blue hue in the past, but it hasn’t been a prominent feature on the brand’s flagship designs in recent times. However, the NB 990v6 did give us a taste of navy goodness with its remarkable FuelCell cushioning. So, it’s only fitting that the New Balance 998 takes center stage with its own navy rendition, courtesy of the brilliant minds of Teddy Santis and his team.

Back in May, the New England powerhouse dropped a “Grey/Silver” iteration of the 998 from 1993. While the color scheme wasn’t exactly surprising (grayscale is their signature move), it solidified the sneaker’s place in the brand’s lineup. Aimé Leon Dore’s frontman, Santis, has been leading the charge on the MADE in USA platform since April 2021, injecting his distinctive “Santis Touch” into the initiative. The May release, along with the upcoming navy 998, falls under the “Core” line. These kicks are still proudly made in the United States, but they don’t flaunt their domestic construction. Additionally, the sockliners feature the classic “New Balance” branding, rather than Santis’ more elevated logos found on other MADE in USA collections.

Now, you’re probably itching to know when these bad boys will hit the states. Well, the brand is keeping that information hush-hush for now, but the navy 998 is already making waves in select overseas shops. So, if you have an international connection or a sneaker plug abroad, you might just be lucky enough to cop a pair. Just make sure you have $185 USD ready to splurge on these navy beauties.

Speaking of New Balance, make sure you don’t miss out on the Action Bronson x New Balance 1906R collaboration if you want to keep your sneaker obsession strong. Trust us, it’s worth every penny!

And hey, before you head out, feast your eyes on these stunning images of the navy New Balance 998. They’ll make you drool, I guarantee it.
