Nike’s commitment to supporting Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) continues with its Yardrunners program. This program aims to uplift and empower these institutions by providing scholarships, hosting homecoming events, and collaborating on special products. The latest installment of the Yardrunners program introduces the Yardrunners 4.0 Class, featuring five exclusive Nike Terminator High sneakers.

The Yardrunners 4.0 Class represents a diverse range of individuals, including athletes like Robert Covington, a former Tennessee State alum who currently plays for the Los Angeles Clippers, and artists like Foggie Raw, a Bowie State graduate. This year’s class celebrates the achievements of HBCU graduates beyond their campus years, embracing the theme of “Draft Day.”

Each of the five sneakers in this collection represents a different HBCU institution, including Spelman College, Tuskegee University, Alabama A&M, and Tennessee State. The high-top models feature a mix of leather and suede materials, with the respective school’s founding year showcased on the lateral forefoot. Additionally, the mascot insignias and school seals appear on the tongue tabs. Standout features of these sneakers include hymn-printed laces and tiger stripes. Notably, the Tennessee State sneaker pays homage to Slim and Husky’s Pizza Beeria, a popular Nashville pizza chain founded by TSU graduates.

The release of the Yardrunners 4.0 Terminator High collection aligns with each school’s Homecoming Weekend, adding an extra layer of excitement and meaning to the release. Sneakerheads can expect these highly anticipated sneakers to drop throughout the month, coinciding with each school’s scheduled festivities.
