Montreal-based design studio JJJJound has recently given a sneak peek into its latest project: a collaboration with New Balance on the iconic 2002R model. It’s been quite a while since JJJJound partnered up with the Boston-based brand, with their last collaboration being in February. However, over the past few months, JJJJound has been busy working on various projects in the footwear, apparel, and accessories realms, showcasing their love for minimalistic aesthetics. But fans of their New Balance 990-series releases have eagerly been awaiting their return to New Balance Running’s heritage catalog. Well, the wait is finally over as JJJJound teases us with a glimpse of the upcoming NB 2002R.

This new collaboration brings together old and new elements, combining the model’s running DNA with a lifestyle twist. The sneaker boasts a beautiful mix of blue tones across its suede, leather, and mesh upper. And of course, you can’t miss the bold “JJJJound” branding proudly displayed on the top of the tongue. But JJJJound doesn’t stop there – they’ve also incorporated the New Balance 860v2’s sole unit, perfectly matching the color scheme of the upper. It’s a departure from their usual understated finishes, adding a refreshing touch to the JJJJound x New Balance lineup.

If you’re itching to get your hands on a pair, get ready for a limited drop. JJJJound’s collaboration with New Balance on the NB 2002R is expected to be available exclusively on and before the year 2023 comes to an end. So mark your calendars and keep an eye out for this highly anticipated release.

In other sneaker news, the New Balance 990v4 “Black/Silver” is set to make a comeback on October 3rd. It’s a great time to be a New Balance enthusiast, with exciting releases on the horizon.
