Nike’s .SWOOSH label is set to release a new iteration of the iconic Air Max 1, inspired by the beloved video game character Lara Croft from the Tomb Raider series. The “Tomb Raider” Air Max 1 features a design that closely reflects Lara’s classic outfit from the early games, incorporating a muted green mudguard and Swoosh alongside a brown gum outsole. This sneaker not only draws on visual elements from the game but also includes subtle nods, such as cheat codes printed on the insoles that reference gameplay features.
This release follows Nike’s introduction of the .SWOOSH line in 2024, which aimed to merge sneaker culture with gaming, originally presenting digital sneaker representations in popular games like NBA 2K and Fortnite. The upcoming release on February 26, 2025, will be exclusive to .SWOOSH members, continuing the trend of creating physical products that celebrate gaming heritage. The MSRP for the sneaker is set at $150. Previous releases have seen similar inspirations, reflecting a trend where sneaker designs are increasingly influenced by pop culture and gaming narratives. Donkey Kong-themed versions have also been rolled out, showcasing Nike’s commitment to creatively merging these worlds.
