Nike is once again pushing the limits of racing innovation with the latest addition to its game-changing lineup—the Nike Vaporfly 4. As the lightest and most refined Vaporfly to date, this iteration builds on the franchise’s legacy while delivering enhanced speed, efficiency, and comfort. Designed using insights from elite athletes and tested in real-world race conditions, the Vaporfly 4 continues to define what’s possible in performance running footwear.
When Nike introduced the original Vaporfly in 2017, it redefined long-distance racing. Now, with the Vaporfly 4, the Swoosh has fine-tuned its proprietary ZoomX foam and carbon fiber Flyplate system to deliver an even more propulsive and stable ride. This latest version not only enhances energy return but also refines how runners leverage power from their foot and ankle, making every stride more efficient.
What sets the Vaporfly 4 apart from previous models is its significant weight reduction. This model is approximately 10% lighter than its predecessor and a full 20 grams lighter than the original Vaporfly—a crucial improvement for distance runners looking to shave off precious seconds. The reduction comes from a newly sculpted midsole that eliminates excess foam while maintaining cushioning and responsiveness.
Additionally, elite athletes like Joshua Cheptegei and Mohammed Ahmed played a key role in the development of the Vaporfly 4, rigorously testing the shoe throughout its production. Ahmed praises the new iteration, calling it “the ideal Vaporfly” and highlighting its lighter build, enhanced responsiveness, and perfectly balanced combination of carbon fiber and foam.
