This latest release draws inspiration from Stone Island’s renowned Raso Gommato fabric, a textile innovation created by Massimo Osti in 1984. The collaboration between the two brands began in 2022, leveraging New Balance’s performance designs and Stone Island’s distinct aesthetic to create unique footwear that pays homage to retro styles while embedding modern functionality.
Set to drop on March 27th, 2025, the upcoming release promises to feature the Made in USA 998 silhouette adorned with overlays made from the signature Raso Gommato textile, which brings a rich, washed brown or grey appearance based on lighting conditions. Complementing these overlays are touches of 3M reflective material on the toes and heels, alongside the iconic ‘N’ logos, while luxurious brown leather completes the shoe’s intricate design.
This release continues the tradition of collaborative efforts between Stone Island and New Balance, following successful models like the 574 and the 991v2.
