If you’re a sneakerhead obsessed with vintage kicks like Nike Dunks from the 1980s or Air Jordan 1s, then you’re no stranger to the telltale sign of their age: cracked leather on the ankle collar. Well, get ready because Nike is bringing that iconic detail back with a modern twist on the Dunk Low.
Leaked images shared by sneaker aficionado @masterchefian on Twitter give us a sneak peek of this upcoming release, and let me tell you, these kicks look straight out of your local thrift store. With their yellowed soles, worn-in leather uppers, and the deteriorating material on the ankle, it’s hard to believe they’re brand new. While the navy/yellow colorway may remind you of Michigan, the color-blocking on this pair is a departure from the original Be True version from the ’80s.
But wait, there’s more! This is just the beginning. Nike has plans to apply this vintage treatment to several other Dunk Low colorways in late 2023/early 2024. So keep your eyes peeled for updates and get ready to add some aged authenticity to your sneaker collection.
