Reebok, the iconic Boston-based brand, is leaving no stone unturned as it navigates its way into the future of the sneaker industry. While the brand reminisces on its golden era, marked by the game-changing signings of basketball legends Shaquille O’Neal and Allen Iverson as the President and VP of Reebok Basketball respectively, it continues to make major moves in the present. Just recently, Reebok announced the return of Emmitt Smith’s legendary signature trainer and now, it has unveiled another retro gem – the “Electric Cobalt” iteration of the Reebok ES22.
In a bold departure from its 1997 pitch-black ensemble, the Reebok ES22 now takes on a striking two-toned treatment. The dominant shade is the pristine “Footwear White,” providing a clean and crisp backdrop for the sneaker. But it’s the vibrant “Electric Cobalt” that steals the show, electrifying the mesh tongue, pockets of the quarter, the heel counter, and inner lining, as well as the mid-foot’s plush branded embellishment. It’s been nearly a decade since the silhouette’s last retro release, and Reebok has taken the opportunity to make subtle updates to the original design. The gum soles have been replaced with a combination of white and blue, and holographic, anodized finishes give the tongue and heel tabs a crystalized finish, adding to the sneaker’s overall appeal.
Sneakerheads, mark your calendars! The Reebok ES22 “Footwear White/Electric Cobalt” is set to make its highly-anticipated return on November 17th at 12 am ET. You can cop these beauties for a retail price of $180. In the meantime, feast your eyes on the detailed imagery of this retro masterpiece.
And speaking of retro releases, get ready for the sequel to the iconic KD 4 “Year of the Dragon” by Nike, coming back in 2024. The sneaker community can’t wait to relive the glory days of these classic kicks once more.
