New Balance’s latest variant of the 9060 showcases the retrofuturistic model in a new green hue reminiscent of vintage military-issue garments. The ‘Dark Olivine’ colorway blends shades of khaki, olive, and sage green for a dynamic visual effect that sits comfortably between tradition and minimalism. This shoe features warm olive green suede dominating the uppers, framing vignettes of green mesh and sage-hued underlays. The silhouette’s famously chunky lower half is complemented by a khaki midsole and a contrasting black outsole. A shiny sage heel counter protrudes from the backside, with the black NB emblem embroidered into the heel tab. Braided green laces match the overall palette and are accentuated by New Balance word marks on the eye stays and the top of the suede tongue. While the 9060 ‘Dark Olivine’ is not marketed as an official military sneaker, it draws inspiration from past collaborations like the 950v2a, created in partnership with the US Department of Defense in 2014. This design ethos continues with the recently revealed 1906M model, which incorporates Fantom Fit uppers originally commissioned for armed forces use. Currently, there is no official release date for the New Balance 9060 in ‘Dark Olivine,’ but updates indicate a potential launch by Spring 2025.
